Mum

This is my mum.

I’m sure she is mortified that I have put her picture on the intertron for everyone to see. She hates having her picure taken. She hates it even more when people look at pictures of her. I imagine when she reads this she will mentally calculate how many people could possibly see this.

My mum is incredible. I could sit on the porch with her for hours sipping wine and talking about just what we would do if we were wandering around Rome, just how amazing that Matisse at the AGO was or what we would eat with a wheel of imported French brie. She is generous to a fault, kind, and the type of person who goes out of her way to make sure the people around her are happy and comfortable. When I was growing up she never told me when I was making a mistake even though she always knew – she is wise enough to know that lessons must be learned, they cannot be forced. She forbade me from wearing red nail polish and black eyeliner when I was 16 (something I only appreciate now). If you drop by she will have a delicious meal ready for you in twenty minutes and she will insist you to have a second helping of mashed potatoes. Always. Everyone should be lucky enough to have someone as amazing as her in their life. I am blessed because I not only have this person but she is my mother.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mum!
